BRMHS ORCHESTRA

Christopher Frazier is a Baton Rouge native and veteran music educator with over 25 years of experience as an orchestra director and conductor. He began his musical training as a violinist and double bassist and studied at Louisiana State University, performing with the LSU Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensembles, while also studying jazz at Southern University. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Southern University and began conducting in the year 2000.

Mr. Frazier has led successful orchestra programs at multiple middle and high schools in East Baton Rouge Parish and briefly in New Orleans’ Recovery School District. He currently serves as Orchestra Director and Performing Arts Department Chair at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. His ensembles have earned superior ratings at national competitions, performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and received first-place honors at the WorldStrides National Competition. In 2024, his program was recognized as a top-performing performing arts department.

In 2025, Mr. Frazier was named Baton Rouge Magnet High School Teacher of the Year and East Baton Rouge Parish Fine Arts Teacher of the Year, and he is a Louisiana State Teacher of the Year Honoree. He is an active member of several professional music organizations and is the author and host of the Louisiana Multi-District Orchestra Assessment and Honor Orchestra. Passionate about mentorship, he is dedicated to providing students with a strong musical foundation and preparing them for success beyond high school.
